My passion for baking was born in my mother's kitchen where, surrounded by the sweet scents that floated through the air, I was fascinated by the creativity and tenderness that went into everything she made. From time to time she would let me help. "Be careful not to break them," she'd say when I handled the eggs. "Be gentle," she'd whisper to me as I mixed everything together. "Wasn't there more?" she'd tease me when I brought her the chocolate - knowing it was my favorite and that I would sneak some from time to time. Soon I was baking myself. And I haven't stopped since. Traditional family recipes, recipes from books and magazines, recipes I created myself adding my own personal touch, a particular flavor I liked, or a unique ingredient I found while traveling the globe. When holidays came around, no one wanted a gift from me. "Bake me something," everyone would say, "It is the best gift of all." Holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, dinner parties, any time there was a gathering of friends or family - my cakes, cookies, and pastries were always in attendance. Word soon spread and I was getting phone calls from friends of friends, people who had heard about my goodies, and people I hardly even knew. I decided to follow my passion and become a baker. I started baking out of my home kitchen participating in a few farmers' markets, it took only one summer until customer's demanded I open a store, they were not willing to except the fact that they will not be able to have Tatte's products 7 days a week. That brought me to open our first store in Brookline, MA in February 2008. Today, Tatte produces delicious baked goods that are sold throughout the Boston and NYC area as well as local farmers' markets. Our cookies and cakes find their way to our devoted customers from all around the world from Europe to Hong Kong, as well as across the country. We bake with our heart and we LOVE what we are doing.
